Who knew 2-3 million women around the world, who are already [more than likely] living a life of intense hardship ALSO suffer, in silence, about .....

This video is INTENSE my friends, but if you cannot watch it then you are walking away from an opportunity to be more informed, to help, to pray, to be aware.

Yes, I am, verbally, fighting a "taboo" topic within the Christian community, for sure. (See my last video in last post)

But these women?

They are fighting for their lives. For their dignity. For their self-worth.

However....

Unfortunately...though the Ethiopian culture is -clearly- exceptionally cruel to these women (who cannot even have the "luxury" of possibly HIDING their "issues"), I see correlations between a "westernized" woman fighting mental illness in silence and what these precious Ethiopian woman experience.

Isolation.

Shame.

Worthlessness.

Hopelessness.

Guilt.

I have felt ALL of these while fighting, in silence and even now 'publicly', an illness that people would rather me ignore so they can ignore it too.

I was not kicked out of my house and forced to live in a make-shift grass hut...but...

The feelings were in line with what this video portrays. Some of you reading this know these feelings too.

I just had NO idea this was happening in developing countries. That this medical issue (SO easily addressed in a modernized country) is keeping woman from living their lives....

Just like so many woman in our own circle of friends/our community are hoping their "problems" are kept secret because they 'think' silence helps them live. It doesn't.

I tried that experiment. I failed in more than major ways. More than once.

PLEASE watch this. It is worth the 54 minutes. You will feel changed.

You will feel more informed about how to handle a "silently-suffering' woman in your circle, your church, your community, etc. just by watching this documented process of.... suffering in isolation/silence, to finding answers, then experiencing help, and FINALLY finding acceptance within these ladies' community again.

Andrea

PS. I know a few of you will need a tissue. Feel duly warned....

PSS And, apparently, chastising a husband for not cleaning the house while wife is away is a universal experience ;) "Good Lord what were you thinking" she said about her HUT to her husband after returning home from a 3 month medical treatment :)
