Andrea... oh, how fun to see you "kinda" in real life. Thanks for always being so real. You are lovely and definately NOT "mommy gross".

Have a blessed day.

Love getting to see the "real" you for real, live in video. Very fun! I get the same comments with four sometimes. Lately I have been a little frumpy and stressed though. Time to change that image!!

How fun to hear & see you LIVE!! :)

I would be put off by the salon ladies reaction as well and I'm glad you didn't tell them that 3 are adopted. I totally agree that would have given them a sigh. Oh brother!!

I sort of feel the opposite sense in that I only have 2 but have really had 5 kids but it doesn't look like it. KWIM? My choice was not to have the perfect sized family with 1 boy & 1 girl.

You are unique and I love that!

You are so much fun - and now I see that you are IRL like you write. I love that!! Can I come over and play? ;)

Andrea, I so want to be like you when I grow up. ;) Mommy Gross, that was too funny. You're definitely not that! Your Mommy Hip!

Anyway, Loved actually seeing you and hearing you. That was fun. :)

Hey again,
I would definitely say you are Mommy Hip!
Did you tell them that you homeschool? That must throw them for an even bigger loop!
You should try going out with 8 (or more, I just have 8- definitley not the tops here).
Immediately folks ask, "Are they ALL yours?"
"No, actually we just grabbed a few neighbor's kids so that we could fill up our 15 passenger van and get better gas mileage per person....."
Yup, I was there at the birth and VERY aware of the goings on.
Of course then there are those responses that are positive. And then there is,"Better you than me."

I just wanna say, "With that attitude, you're darn right!"
I am thankful for every last tiny cell of my kids.
Yes, I think I have lost more than my share of hair, but nevermind...who needs hair....
Usually, I get the "You don't look like you could have 6, 7, 8 (whatever the number is at the time".
So, like you say...what exactly are we supposed to look like...I have often wondered that myself.

You could just say "Oh, well, thanks." and move on to say how great it is to be blessed to be momma to 5 great kids.

Your hair is messed up?

And, for the record, You would not be frumpy if you had had all 5!
You look like a model to me!

(Er, I won't mention my large weight gain with number 8- maybe folks will decide I finally look like a mom of 8- snicker, Not that I'm trying, or that I really care what other folks think. I do want to be presentable, though :).)

God bless,
Kim
PS The video is great! Chase sounds so typical of an 11 year old boy. A girl would have said, "Oh Mommy, you're the most beautiful woman in the world!(sigh)"

Andrea,
I get, 'you don't look like you had three kids / old enough to have three kids' all the time too. And I just say well I do and I am. (With a big smile on my face.) I hope to hear that for MANY years to come. I don't know really what to think of it either, so I just ask them about their family and it's over.
Samantha & Payton said that when I meet their friends they always say your Mom is pretty and looks much younger than their moms. I'll take it again!
I was just at a conference and the guy who runs it had all of us over to his beautiful home for a catfish dinner. (He also has a catfish farm at his house) Well my girls were sending me text messages w/ pic's of stingrays Daddy had caught on our boat. Well I decided to walk to the pond and catch a fish to send to them. Someone laughingly said to me, "Don't you think you should take your heels off if you're going to catch a catfish?" I said, "Why would I do that, I always wear heels (unless I'm in scrubs) and I am certainly capable of catching a catfish and doing anything else I want IN HEELS!" Like you said- do I need to look dirty or frumpy to catch a fish? Or certain way for any certain thing.
Just after that someone else made a similar comment and I said yes, I am a working (out side the home & in) wife and mother of 3 girls (oh my THREE GIRLS!!! is the comment I get) AND I'm going to quit my current job, to start my own business- oh and yes I made my watch, bracelet and earrings- BTW all doing this while wearing heels!!! Then I added and I'll make no excesses or apologies for it.
Bring It!

Well I hope this story makes you feel not alone in the world of weird questions and comments people make.
I think it would be worse if people didn't say I looked pretty or young. And I think I'm a roll model for my girls that I think- Why not have your cake and eat it too?

LOVE it!!! What a good idea to do a video blog!

I totally agree. I hate the "mommy gross" frumpy look-especially on myself, lol!!!

(& I just got back from the nail salon a few days ago, but everyone knows me there, so I no longer get those questions!)

Um ... yeah well I experienced that when I took your 5 and my 2 (total of 7!) to Steak n Shake that one day. People were relentless! I think too, just having the one girl out of all of them just made them laugh hysterically ... or was it just b/c they were watching me? It is a whole other phenomenon, we certainly don't get anything like that w/ 2! Somebody's gotta raise good kids, though, why not you? Yeah, just say that, "I raise good kids, so I thought I'd make sure to do my share!" ;-)

But really after a couple, it is a lot harder to keep getting back in shape, well unless you have your freakishly high metabolism, and so they are probably just speaking from experience? They know that they haven't and they don't look like that after having less than 5.

Hi Guys!

Just a quick clarification...

"Mommy Gross" (my made up term) has NOTHING TO DUE WITH WEIGHT.

It has to due with losing interest in your personal presentation since you have kids...

Personal presentation being matching, clean clothes, pretty toes, combed hair, and a bit of lip gloss!

That's all I'm talking about...

I would be a REAL jerk if I was including weight in this...

When I said People comment on how "nice I still look" for having 5 kids...it's not so much my weight.

It's the overall presentation ....

The fact that, even though I have kids, I still remember how to apply lipstick.

like that surprises people.

Okay..Nuf said.
